How to get to Juarez from El Paso
You can get there by foot, personal car, taxi, or by
The El Paso-Juarez Trolley
Company (Border Jumpers).
Border Jumpers are very convenient for
casual tourists who want to get beyond Juarez Avenue, although, as an
experienced Juarez Traveler, I'd never take one myself. (American) taxis
are only for people who don't mind spending $20 in lieu of a
5- or 10-minute walk. The $20 is the legal fee that El Paso taxis charge to
cross the border, but they will sometimes negotiate that.
Walking is great if you only want to go downtown, or will take a taxi or
bus on the other side. Driving is something that must be learned gradually,
and has its drawbacks, but offers the most freedom and convenience.
Unless you get stuck in a long line coming back on the bridge, and notice
that pedestrians are crossing much faster than you.
